Caring for Quartz Countertops and Vanities

Quartz countertops are composed of 93% natural quartz and 7% polymer material selected by each manufacturer. Due to this man-made process, quartz countertops are non-porous so you do not need to seal your quartz like you do with a natural stone. One of the biggest advantages of quartz is it’s a low-maintenance material to take care of. As a result of its composition, quartz countertops are susceptible to color changes when exposed to direct sunlight and are not recommended for outdoor applications where there is a significant amount of direct sunlight.

Care and Maintenance of Quartz

Do	Do Not
Wipe all crumbs and debris away with a dry cloth to avoid scratching	Do not use products that contain a high acidic content, like lemon, ammonia, vinegar, etc. The high acidic content can dull the finish.
Clean stone surface with a mild liquid dishwashing detergent or neutral PH cleaner with warm water and a soft cloth or sponge.	Avoid contact with harsh chemicals like paint strippers, bleach, oven cleaners, or drain cleaners.
Wipe up excess water with a dry cloth to avoid streaking or a film on countertop	Do not use abrasive scouring powders or liquids as these can damage the surface. If you have a stubborn spot that won’t come up with water and detergent, you may use Bar Keeper’s Friend powder with a soft cloth. Wet the area and gently rub until it comes up, then clean any residue away with water.
Do use trivets for all hot pots and pans including crock-pots or air-fryer appliances	Do not drop heavy objects on your countertop as they may chip or break the stone.
Always use cutting boards, do not cut directly on the surface.
